Teachers in England will be given the autonomy to grade students’ GCSE and A-level exams rather than an algorithm this year.
The decision was made after the government was forced to abandon a controversial algorithm which was used to produce last year’s marks.
However, there are fears that teacher-driven grades will lead to inconsistencies and high grade inflation across the board.
