Yale vows to fight DOJ ruling on admissions

After a two-year investigation, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused Yale University of discriminating against Asian and white students during the freshman application process. The agency formally ordered the Ivy League school to halt this practice for at least one year. Yale has vowed to fight the DOJ and continue with its existing practices for admissions. Yale says race or ethnic heritage is just one of the hundreds of data points used to evaluate applicants. This all comes just one month before arguments are set to be heard in an appeals case brought by Asian American civil-rights groups that are challenging Harvard University’s admissions process.
