David Copperfield’s Statue of Liberty Disappearance Explained

In April 1983, magician David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear during a live televised event. The trick involved raising a sheet in front of the statue and then dropping it, which made it seem like the statue had vanished. However, the statue was actually hidden behind one of the towers that held up the sheet. Copperfield also moved the platform that the audience was standing on while playing loud music to distract them from the shift. Helicopters flying around Liberty Island added to the illusion of the statue’s absence
